Question?

Postby Dave » Fri Oct 16, 2009 10:35 am

I have a backup from April. Should I back up from then to get the new posts and all members or would you rather start fresh and clean?

As much as I want to say start from scratch. But I think if you put the back-up up. It will help get the site up and running more then what it is now. The site looks great we just have to slowly work on getting new members on here.
thanks

I think I got a great idea. I'll install the forum again in another folder on the site. Then use that and upload the April 2009 backup I had. Then send out a mass e-mail to let everyone know we're back on and the exact location of the new forum. :-)

Well I installed the old forum version 2 (not our 3 here) to the old location also which is in the phpbb2 directory on our site. It's there now and points them to this forum. Problem is the restore of the back up isn't going well yet. It was kind of big after all the years and I'm messing around with options to get it back in there. It's timing out cause the file is to big. But I have some solutions I'm working on. But at least if they go to the old page in a book mark they now see we moved rather than "page not found."

Yeah i noticed you had a traffic detour on the old forum. I think in time we are probably going to have to wait for new members to find the site. Then in time the old members will slowly come back. Well that's what im guessing.
